St. Justine

One day as Justine was talking with a group of learned men, questioning his life, his future the reason for the existence of the world itself, an old man in the group suddenly spoke up.'' Justine , you will find the answers to your questions in the Word of God ''.

''I know all the gods'', answered Justin.'' I know the Greek gods, the Roman Gods, the Indian gods, and even the Chinese gods, but not one of them offers the true answer I seek.''

''You do not know the God of Abraham , the God of Moses; you do not know the Son of God, Jesus Christ, '' said the older man .

'' Where shall I find this God of yours?'' Justin asked.
'' You must read the Word of God as set down in the Holy Bible. I shall let you read mine if you wish.''
Justin became a great student of the Holy Bible and was soon converted to Christianity. Here, indeed, he found the answers to all his questions. At last he know Why he was created and where He would go for all eternity.

suddenly Justin became a teacher. He traveled to many places . Everywhere He went, he argued with Pagans and others, convincing them of the true Christian doctrines.

At the time there was no freedom of religion in Rome. Justin fought against the persecution of Christians. But the emperor was afraid that the kingdom hailed by the Christians would have a king more powerful than He was. A time came when Justin was brought before the Emperor, accused unjustly, and condemned wrongly as a traitor to the state.

He was scourged as Jesus had been hundred years before. Then He was beheaded. His dying words ring out as true today as they did eighteen hundred years ago.'' We desire only one thing; to suffer torment for Jesus and thus attain happiness''.

The death of St. Justin 165 A.D. is remembered in the church calendar every year of June first. If Justin is your patron saint, look to him on that special day and be inspired by his greatness.
