Bible

The Old Testament tells of God's relationship or covenant with His people. It contains the story of why humankind needs salvation and what God did to prepare for the final act of salvation.

In the Old Testament, the concepts of hope runs throughout. There are prophecies in the historical books and history in the prophetic and doctrinal books. Doctrine is found in all the books of the old testament.

The New Testament tells of a new relationship which Jesus established between God and the people. Testament is a direct translation of the Latin word for covenant.
The four gospel are apostolic witnesses and interpretations of the words and deeds of Jesus.
The acts of the Apostle were written by St. Luke. It contains the story of the missionary activity and growth of the early Church as well as the missionary journeys of St. Paul.
The Epistles of St. Paul were written to individuals and Churches in answer to particular problems. They give an insight into the gradual development of the theology of the new Testament.

The Catholic Epistles are called such because of their universal destination. They will not written to console the early Christians at a time when they are being persecuted. It tells of the ultimate victory of the Kingdom of God.

The New Testament contains the fullness of revelation that was brought by Jesus.

The word was made flesh and dwelt among us in the fullness of grace and truth''(John 1:14).
'' To these realities, the writings of the New Testament stand as a perpetual and divine witness''(Vat. 11, Revelation 17).
