Ordinary Time

These are the Sundays when nothing else is scheduled. The season consists of two in-between periods. One is a short period between the Christmas season and the beginning of Lent. The other is the long period between the Eastern season and the first Sunday in Advent. The Sundays of the Year. During this season, the Holy Spirit helps us to remember that ordinary days are important, too.

Each Church season has a color. The color of Advent and Lent is purple as a sign of penance. Christmas and Easter are white or gold as a sign of joy. The color of the Sundays of the year is green as a sign of hope.

The Advent Season

The season of Advent refers to the four weeks before Christmas. During this period, Catholics recall the years of waiting for Jesus. At that time, the people prepared themselves for the promised Messiah or Savior by trying to follow the laws of God.

Today, we celebrate Advent by giving thanks to God for our redemption in Christ. It is during this season that we are called on to do penance in anticipation of the joyous feast of Christmas. The penance we are called on to do need not be extraordinary sacrifices. All we need to do is to follow our normal routine offering each day to God and being more thoughtful of other people. The season of Advent is meant to remind us to live our lives closely to Jesus so that we can join Him in Heaven.

On Advent as we prepare for celebration of Jesus' coming into the world, let us pray for the grace to value things the way Jesus does. Let us want to only things that we really need. By doing these, we make room in our hearts for Jesus. We make ourselves worthy to celebrate Christmas

Simeon's prophecy

When Jesus was presented at the temple, Simeon saw Him together with Joseph and Mary. Simeon said to Mary, "This Child is destined to be the downfall and the rise of many in Israel, a sign that will be opposed. And you, yourself, shall be pierced with a sword, so that the thoughts of many hearts may be laid bare."

Strike a Balance

Man did not weave the Web of Life, he is merely a strand in it, What ever he does to the web, he does to himself.

You will never have a river steady and sure in its flow, Unless in the upper reaches. Trees verdant and helpful grow. and you will never find a forest wide and refreshing and grand. Unless it is nourished by rivers. that flow through, renewing the land. And man who destroys the timber, leaving the mountainside bare. Wonders what dried up the river that once ran steadily there.

About Christmas

♥ Christmas is a time for remembering others and forgetting our selfish attitudes. It is a time for reaching out to our brothers and sisters in the bond of love and concern.

What are some good ways of celebrating Christmas?

Here are some suggestions:
1.) Participate in the liturgies of Christmas, listen well to the Scriptural readings and reflect on what they mean to you.
2.) Look around you to see who needs your warmth and help.
3.) Work with others to make sure that all of God's people know the Good News that Jesus was born for them.

Rise up in splendor!
Your light has come,

The glory of the Lord
Shines upon you.
ISAIAH 60:1

He who was the Son of God,
for you He has become the Son of Man,
So that you who were children of men
might become the children of God.
That He might give us of His good things, He shared with us our infirmities.

Fossils

Hey guy's Don't you know that a Fossil- is any evidence of a living thing of the past. You know that Fossils show as what the animals and plants of long ago were like. They are usually found in deep mines and in sedimentary rocks. They are also found in the banks of rivers and streams and in cliffs along the ocean floor.

A fossil may be an imprint of a living thing or a footprint of an animal. The imprint is made when a dead plant or animal falls into soft sediment. When the sediment hardens into a rock, the shape of the plant or animal is preserved in it. An animal may leave its footprint in the mud. Water may cover the footprint with sediment. When the sediment hardens into a rock, the footprint is preserved. Isn't it?

O Lord, our Lord,
How glorious is Your name
Over all the earth!
You have exalted Your majesty
above the heavens.
...
When I behold Your heavens, the
work of Your fingers
The moon and the stars which
You set in place-
What are people that You
should be mindful of them?
Or their children and children's children
that You should care for them?
You have made them little less
than the angels,
And crowned them with the glory and
honor
You have given them rule over the
works pf Your hands
Putting all things under their feet:
All sheep and oxen;
yes, and the beasts of the field,
The birds of the air, the fishes of the sea,
and whatever swims the paths of the seas,
Lord our Lord,
how glorious is Your name over
all the earth.

Biblical Proverbs

The Baptism Of Jesus

At the time God spoke to Zechariah's son John, who was living in the desert. So John went along the Jordan Valley, telling the people, "Turn back to God and be baptized! Then your sins will forgiven."
From Jerusalem and all Judea and from the Jordan River Valley crowds of people went to John. They told how sorry they were for their sins, and he baptized them in the river.
Jesus left Galilee and went to the Jordan River to be baptized by John. But John kept objecting and said, "I ought to be baptized by you." Jesus answered, "For now this is how it should be, because we must do all that God wants us to do."
So Jesus was baptized. And as soon as he came out of the water, the sky opened, and he saw the Spirit of God coming down on him like a dove. Then a voice from heaven said, "This is my own dear Son, and I am pleased with him."

The Boy Jesus at the Temple

A climate mangles a rush myth. Every year Jesus' parents went to Jerusalem for Passover. And when Jesus was twelve years old, they all went there as usual for the celebration. After Passover his parents left, but they did not know that Jesus had stayed on in the city. They thought he was travelling with some other people, and they went a whole day before they started looking for him. When they could not find him with their relatives and friends, they went back to Jerusalem and started looking for him there.

Three days later they found Jesus sitting in the temple, listening to the teachers ad asking them questions. Everyone who heard him was surprised at how much he knew and the answers he gave.

When his parents found him, they were amazed. His mother said, "Son, why have you done this to us? Your father and I would be in my Father's house?" But they did not understand what he meant.

Jesus went back to Nazareth with his parent's and obeyed them. His mother kept on thinking about all that had happened.

Jesus became wise, and he grew strong. God was pleased with him and so were the people.

Angels Appear to Jesus Parents

This is the good news about Jesus, Christ, the Son of God.
God sent the angel Gabriel to the town of Nazareth in Galilee with a message for a virgin named Mary. She was engaged to Joseph from the family of King David. The angel greeted Mary and said, " You are truly blessed! The Lord is with you."
Mary was confused by the angel's words and wondered what they meant.
Then the angel told Mary, "Don't be afraid!
God is pleased with you, and you will have a son. His name will be Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of God Most High. The Lord God will make him king, and his kingdom will never end."
Mary asked the angel, "How can this happen? I am not married!"
The angel answered, "The Holy Spirit will come down to you, and God's power will come over you. So your child will be called the holy Son of God. Nothing is impossible for God!"
Mary said, " I am the Lord's servant! Let it happen as you have said. "And the angel left her.
An angel from the Lord came to [Joseph] in a dream. The angel said, "Joseph, the baby that Mary will have is from the Holy Spirit. Go ahead and marry her. Then after her baby is born, name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins."
[Joseph] and Mary were soon married, just as the Lord's angel had told him to do.

Let's take this apart:

Since he made us, he knows us and loves us.
"God ... gave his only son ..."
The bad things we do separate us from God. Because God is holy and pure ( he wouldn't be much of a God if he wasn't), he can't be with anything that's less than holy.

Someone has to take the punishment for this bad things. What's the punishment? Death. A Spiritual death no, separated away from God first, and later a physical death. So, who is going to die for the bad things we do? You? Me? Well, yes, we will pay for the bad things we do unless ...

Unless there's someone who will die in our place. That's where the "God gave" part comes in. God gave Jesus to die for us. When he died on the cross, our since were taken care of.

But then Jesus came back to life a couple of days later. That's how he can be so close to us in our thoughts and in our hearts today.

The Daily Gospel

1st Reading: Rom 4:1-8
Gospel: Lk 12:1-7
Such a numerous crowd had gatherd that they crushed one another. Then Jesus spoke to his disciples in this way,
"Beware of the yeast of the pharisees which is hypocrisy. Nothing is covered that will not be uncovered, or hidden that will not be made known. Whatever you have said int he darkness will be heard on daylight, and what you have whispered in hidden places, will be proclaimed from the housetops.
" I tell you, my friends, do not fear those who put to death the body and after that can do no more. But i will tell you whom to fear: Fear the one who after killing you is able to throw you into hell. This one you most fear. Don't you give five sparrows for two pennies? Yet not one of them has been forgotten by God. Even the hairs of your head have been numbered. So do not fear: are you not worth more than a flock of sparrows?"
Commentary
Jesus warns the disciples to beware of the yeast of the Pharisees. Yeast, of course, has a permeating influence, whether for good or for evil; but the warning of Jesus includes the comment that the Pharisees are an example of what to avoid. The dichotomy is evident: he criticized the Pharisees' hypocritical practice of the law, whereas he correctly expounded the law. The Pharisees, in their zeal for the law, were opposing the purpose of God, whereas Jesus was fulfilling God's will. All this was not only a confrontation between Jesus and the scribes and Pharisees, but also between Jesus' revolutionary understanding of purity and virtue, versus the system, found in the Jewish culture of the scribes and Pharisees. In fact, Jesus remained a figure of unsurpassed holiness: holy in pedigree, holy in observances; he was classified as a reforming insider. To further this point, Jesus was not only unaffected by contact with impurity, he actually imparted purity and wholeness to the impure.
As a limit breaker, Christ today possesses the authority to cross bounderies of purity or impurity and He also invests us with that power to cross boundaris of costum and convention. We only have to ask!

GODS WORK THROUGH EVERYONE

I am Yahweh, the God of your father, Abraham and the God of Isaac. The land on which you sleep, I give to you and your descendants. All the nations of the earth will be bless. See, I am with and I will keep you safe wherever you go.

God blesses those who make an effort and accept their responsibility. Because of this even sinners can become instruments for salvation
